About Footworks Podiatry
My name is Gillian Poole; I graduated from the Huddersfield School of Podiatry in 1986. Since then I have divided my time between the NHS and private practice.
I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Sports Injury and Therapy, graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University in July 2006 and I am currently studying the Management of Pain in the Lower Limb, which is part of a Masters in Orthopaedics, through Warwick Medical School.
With a personal interest in running and having completed numerous 10K races for charity, I have gained a better understanding of the relationship between biomechanics and exercise. I also practiced Tai Chi for over ten years and relate my awareness of posture and movement to my practice.
I have held the role of Biomechanics Lead Podiatrist for Leicestershire County and Rutland NHS Primary Care Trust for the Hinckley and Bosworth Team since 1999, working closely with the musculoskeletal physiotherapy team and GP’s.
As a member of The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, and a registered associate with the Health Professionals Council (HPC), I undertake ongoing professional development and improvement in all standards of foot health practice.
Using knowledge and diagnostic skills which I have developed throughout my years of practice, I am able to provide treatment to a wide variety of patients of all ages and with various medical conditions.
My particular area of interest is in the treatment and prevention of foot and lower limb pain, including heel and arch pain, experienced by the general public and athletes.
To assist in the diagnosis of lower limb pathologies, I have invested in the latest equipment, including RSScan technology. This is a computerised pressure plate used to analyse your gait (the way your walk and move) which can affect the rest of your body, resulting in symptoms like knee or back pain if not corrected with orthotics. |
